FOUNDATION STATEMENT:As a believer for you to walk in the
commandment of love you are first of all going to have to develop a mind that
is set on the commandment of love.
I. The Way of Love will lead you to the
destination called God’s best
A. The
way of love will lead you to the destination where the Word is working in your
life (Matthew 22:40)
B. The
way of love will lead you out of fear, out of oppression, and into victory. (1
John 4:18, Isaiah 54:14)
C. The
way of love will lead you to the destination called manifestation; manifested ways, manifested
zoe, and manifested Word (John 14:21)
D. The
way of love will lead you to days of Heaven on the Earth (Deuteronomy 11)
E. What
destination do you want to reach? Then travel the way that’s going to take you
there no matter if you feel like it or not
II. You cannot consistently walk in the way love without
first of all having a mind that is constantly set on the commandment of love.
A. 2
Peter 3:1-2 – If we can develop a consciousness of the commandment of love our
lives will never be the same
1. Paul
wrote this to them to get this commandment of love on the forefront of their
minds.It wasn’t that they hadn’t heard
it, but they weren’t conscious of it.
a. He
wrote this to get to something that was already in their minds your and make it
active again
b. Stir
up – to get up, arouse, stimulate, awake, raise
2. You have
to develop a love commandment consciousness (2 Peter 3:1)
a. It’s
not that you don’t know this commandment, you’re just not conscious of it in
your life and it is costing you
i. We
want to get his commandment on the forefront of our thinking to the point that
it dictates everything you think, do, and say
3. One
of the main reasons why believers just blatantly violate the commandment of
love is because it never crosses their minds
B. The
first step to keeping the commandment of love is to set your mind on it and
become conscious of it
1. Your
thoughts determine the way that you go; if you don’t think love you won’t go the
way of love (Isaiah 55:8-11)
a. To
do the things of the spirit you’re first all going to have to set your mind on
the things of the spirit (Romans 8:5 AMP)
b. There
is protocol here to changing my actions that says to change your actions you
first have to change your thinking
2. You take
the time on purpose to develop a consciousness of the commandment of love
a. What
it is?What are the results of keeping
it? What are the results of violating it?
C. Through
meditation and confession of this commandment you place it at the forefront of
your thinking
1. To
keep this commandment of love you are going to have to keep your mind set on it
day and night (Joshua 1:8)
a. You
meditate the Word day and night and it sets your thinking and then your
thinking determines your actions
i. Meditate
– utter a sound, the act of thoughtful deliberation with the implication of
speaking to oneself
2. Transformation
in life, starts with transformation in thinking
a. Transformation
is dependent upon the words that I’m allowing to dictate my thinking
3. James
1:24 – The person who continues in looking at and meditating on the commandment
of love will be the doer of it
D. This
commandment of love is unnatural to human nature and to the flesh so there must
be a renewal of your mind (Romans 12:1-3)
1. The
process of renewing your mind goes like this; you say something different to
think something different until you don’t have to say something different to
think something different any more
III. It is vitally important that your mind be set on this
commandment
A. The
costs of you not walking the way of love
1. The Word can’t work for you
2. You will be oppressed
B. Not
being conscious of this commandment of love is the most expensive thing in the
universe
1. If
you don’t develop a love consciousness you are in danger of living a life where
you continually violate the commandment of love and it goes unnoticed,
unrecognized, and unrepented of
a. When
you violate that commandment and do not repent of it, then the Word isn’t
working in your life and you’re over into fear and accessible to be oppressed
You
got believers out there who are constantly violating the commandment of love
and their hearts and minds have become so hard to it that they don’t even
realize that they are violating it.And
then the Word isn’t working in their life, they get little to no results, they
pray and don’t see the manifestation, they sow and don’t see a harvest.
2. The
Gift of Repentance (1 John 1:9)
a. When
this commandment of love is on your mind and you violate it, you’ll immediately
catch it, repent on the spot, and now you’re living on the love line where the
Word is working for you and you’re seeing manifestations of the Word of God
like you’ve never seen before because for the first time love is working
proficiently in your life.
IV. You’re going to have to develop a mindset that is
working to keep you in the commandment of love
A. Developing
a love consciousness (Deuteronomy 11:13-21)
1. Lay
up these words in your heart and in your soul (mind)
a. You
do that by looking at it, hearing it, and saying it
2. Write
it on your hand as a sign and Stamp them on your forehead – Put cards and
reminders all over the place
a. Write
them upon your door posts of your house and upon your gates
3. Speak
of it when you sit down, speak of it when you’re in your car, speak of it
before you lie down, and speak of it when you first rise up – Last thing out of
my mouth before I go to bed and the first thing out of my mouth when I wake up
4. You
flood yourself with this commandment to the point that it comes out in
everything you think, everything you do, and say
a. Mark
10:21 – It came out of Jesus’ eyes
B. One
part of Holy Spirit’s ministry is to bring to your remembrance the Words that
Jesus spoke (John 14:26)
1. Jesus
said Matthew 22:37-40 so the Holy Spirit’s job is to bring that to my
remembrance
a. You
have to receive that part of his ministry by faith
C. You
set that boundary of love in your mind first and it will be set in your life (2
Corinthians 5:14)
1. My
mindset on love constrains me – If I don’t think outside of love, I won’t go
outside of love
