TRACKING ZOE

FOUNDATION STATEMENT:  Zoe is what we should be living in today.  Jesus came so that we could have zoe and have it abundantly.  He died the death of the cross and defeated Satan so that we wouldn’t have to in bondage to death, but his will is that we live above death and its effects.

I. Adam was created with zoe-life

A. Genesis 1:26, Genesis 2:7 – God said, “Man be in my image” and he spoke zoe into that man

1. That life that is in him, is zoe

II. Through disobedience Adam lost zoe

A. Genesis 2:17 – He didn’t die in the sense that he ceased to exist, he died in the sense that he disconnected from the source of zoe, and he hooked up to the force of death

1. Spiritual death is to be disconnected from God who is zoe

2. He didn’t have zoe working in him, he had that force of death working in him

a. The moment he turned zoe off, his physical life immediately got worse because zoe was no longer working to crowd out all evil

B. The Force of Death

1. Death is the force of darkness that works to manifest the curse in the lives of believers

a. All sickness, all lack, all poverty, all of the curse is the result of this spiritual force of death working in your life

2. As a believer you can have zoe in you, but through disobedience to the commandment of love, you activate and release that force of death in your lives (Galatians 6:7 – This was written to unborn again people)

a. That’s where many believers are today.  They have zoe in them, but with their disobedience and negligence to the command of love they are activating that death force and seeing the results that force produces

b. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:22)

C. When Adam disobeyed and the force of zoe was deactivated the force of death was turned on and immediately things began to progressively get worse

1. Through that disobedience Satan had the power of death over men and he used it to curse the whole Earth with mission of turning Earth into hell (Hebrews 2:14-15)

III. Jesus died spiritually went to the pit of hell and got born again and got zoe back

A. Jesus came to get zoe back into the hands of man

1. Zoe is working in Jesus while he’s in the Earth

a. They couldn’t kill him, people were getting healed, and delivered everywhere he went

B. Jesus submitted to death and allowed it to come on him (Philippians 2:8)

1. Death came on Adam through treason, it came on Jesus through obedience

2. He never sinned so how did death come on him

a. You can’t activate that death force without sin, anymore than you can activate zoe with obedience to the command of love – If Jesus is going to activate it he needs sin (Rom 5:12)

i. Death came into the world through sin

b. The only way Jesus is going to get death is by sin (2 Corinthians 5:21)

i. He took our sin and used it to activate the death force

ii. Death couldn’t come until life left and life couldn’t leave until he had sin

c. The force of death was working in him and on him; that’s how the sickness got there, that’s how the torment got there, that’s how the poverty got there – He activated the force that produces all those things with our sin

3. He lived without zoe so that you would never have to

C. Jesus died spiritually

1. Isaiah 53:9 – He died spiritually and physically

2. Matthew 27:46 – God turned his back on the one who never did wrong

a. 1 John 1:1-5, John 1:5 – God is Zoe, Zoe left him

b. Spiritual death is to be disconnected from the Father and that’s what happened to Adam through rebellion, but it happened to Jesus through obedience

3. You can’t be alive spiritually and get into hell

D. Jesus went to hell and experienced the full death of a sinner.  He was tormented beyond anything that you can imagine

1. Matthew 12:40, Acts 2:30-34 – He spent three days and three nights there

2. Isaiah 53:9 – He made his grave with the wicked; the Old testament saints weren’t wicked

3. Luke 23:43 – Paradise is the upper regions of hell and Jesus dropped that thief off on the way down there

a. That’s not where Jesus went, because that’s not were a sinner goes

E. Jesus was the first man ever to be born again from death to life

1. 1 Timothy 3:16, 1 Peter 3:18 – To be made alive in the spirit you have to be dead first

2. Colossians 1:18, Romans 8:29 – He was the first born from the dead

3. Hebrews 1:5-6 – God spoke the word of life into hell and Jesus got born again

F. Jesus took Satan’s authority away from him through combat

1. Hebrews 2:14-15 – Satan had the power of death, but He doesn’t have it any more because 2. Jesus took it from him in the pit of hell

a. Colossians 2:14-15 – Jesus stripped Satan of all the authority that he took off of Adam

3. Hebrews 1:3 – One born again man defeated all of hell

a. 2 Timothy 1:10 – He hath brought zoe and immortality to our sight through the gospel

4. Matthew 28:18 – Jesus got zoe back

a. Proverbs 18:21 – We have the power of life and death now

b. Ephesians 1:19 – The same zoe that raised Jesus from the dead is in me

IV. John 10:10 – Jesus came that we might have zoe abundantly

A. He didn’t come so that you could just be healed, just be prosperous, or just go to Heaven; He came so that you could abound and overflow and be excessive in zoe and zoe will keep you abundantly healed, abundantly prosperous, abundantly victorious
