SPEAK THE WORD ONLY
The Process Of Faith (Part 8)
Foundation Statement: As believers we are to say what God says and speak the Word only.
Foundation Scripture: Hebrews 4:14, 10:23, James 3:14
I. The law of confession is that you can have what you say (Mark 11:23)
A. The law of confession says that if you say something with your mouth and believe with your heart that you have what you say, you will have what you say
B. A law is something that will produce a pre-determined and predictable outcome when the principles of that law are applied. It's already been pre-determined that when you believe and speak you will have what you say
C. Words that are believed and spoken will affect the physical realm (Mark 11:23, Luke 17:5, Matthew 17:20)
D. The law of confession will override natural law and enable the believer to accomplish the impossible (Matthew 17:20)
II. The Heart - Mouth Connection: Whatever is in your mouth is going to produce a belief/image in your heart, and whatever belief/image you have in your heart is going to come out of your mouth in words and create your life (Matthew 12:33-37)
A. Words are seeds that you sow into your heart when you speak them out of your mouth. Those words that you speak produce and will either produce faith or unbelief
B. Whatever you believe in your heart in abundance is what will come out of your mouth and determine what you have in life
C. You bring forth good things in your life by depositing good things in your heart, by speaking words. When those words have produced a belief in your heart and you speak those good things out of your mouth then they will come to pass in your life
D. Make the connection between what you're saying and what you have in life
1. Satan has worked to obscure this truth so that people will continue to say what he wants them to say and thereby fuel his operation
2. Your mouth caused it, but it's not apparent that it is the problem
III. A confession of faith is to say the same thing that God says (Hebrews 4:14-16, 10:21-23)
A. Confession (Homologia; Homo - the very same kind; Logos - words) to say the same thing
1. When you come to God you are supposed to come to Him saying what He has already said
a. We are drawing near and coming boldly to the throne of grace holding fast to our confession of faith saying to God what God has already said about us
i. It didn't say come to God talking your problem, it said come to God talking the answer
ii. 1 Samuel 17:25,33 - All carnal and immature Christians want to talk about is the problem
iii. You don't have to ask God for something that He's already provided for you, you just have to receive it
2. Ephesians 4:29 - Let no communication come of out your mouth that opposes the Word of God
a. Corrupt - rotten, unwholesome, bad
b. God's Word is the gospel and it's all good, so you say that out of your mouth because that will profit, edify, and minister grace to the hearers; you're one of those hearers
3. 1 Peter 4:11 - If you're going to say something then you need to say what God says
a. If you're going open up your mouth then only allow the Word of God to come out
b. Nowhere in this Bible does it say you ARE GOING TO BE healed; it says you ARE healed
4. We are to hold fast to saying the same thing that God has already said (Hebrews 4:14, Hebrews 10:22)
a. You don't hold fast to the confession of the evil report, or the circumstances, or your feelings; you hold fast to the confession of God's Word out of your mouth
b. Speak the Word only; God didn't ask you for your opinion
B. You say the same thing that God says whether you feel like it or not and whether it looks like His Word is true or not
1. The Word of God is truth and anything that opposes His Word is a lie (James 3:14, John 17:17)
a. Truth - truthfulness, corresponding to reality
i. His Word is truth, not your circumstances
ii. If God says you're healed, but you're saying you are sick then you're lying against the truth of his Word
b. Don't speak an untruth against the Word of God
i. You're never telling a lie when you are saying what God's Word says because His Word is truth
2. You let God be true and every man, circumstance and situation be a liar (Romans 3:3-4)
a. Let God and His Word be true and allow no circumstance or situation to talk you out of it
b. YOUR words will free you and YOUR words will cause you to overcome
i. Justified - Freed
ii. Overcome - overpower, conquer, triumph, gotten the victory, prevailed
iii. Judged - decreed, called into question
c. When the circumstances and situations try to decree you sick, poor, and defeated you will be freed and conquer by your words
d. Satan might call into question your prosperity by showing you a circumstance. ("If thou be the Son of God" - Matthew 4) But you can be freed and overcome when he's calling you into question by your words.
3. You call those things that be not as though they were to establish what may be not in your life, instead of saying what you have and establishing your current situation (Romans 4:17)
a. Put away from you false and dishonest speech (Prov 4:25 AMP)
b. God's Word says you're healed and if you're saying you are sick, then you're lying against the truth and just establishing the sickness in your life
C. You should have be talking your redemption (Psalm 107:2)
1. What are you redeemed from? You are redeemed from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13-14)
IV. You will rise and fall to the level of your confession (Numbers 13-14, Exodus 33:1-3)
A. This is the truth and this is what God said, so if they are going to say what God said then they are going to have to speak something that is in line with this (Exodus 33:1-3)
1. They talked themselves out of the promised land (Numbers 13:25-29, 31-33, 14:1-4)
a. They spoke words based on the circumstances and the way things appeared to be
b. They said something that was reasonable to the natural mind
2. Joshua and Caleb talked themselves into the promised land (Numbers 13:30, Numbers 14:7-9)
a. Naturally, they shouldn't have been able to go in
b. They just said what God said
B. God had a purpose and plan for them and that plan was a plan that had them in a land of more than enough, but that plan was altered when they took their words and changed His plan (Numbers 14:34)
1. God did exactly what they said
a. Joshua 10:12-14 - God heard and did the voice of man
2. Luke 1:18-20, 34-38, 45
a. The angel of the Lord shut Zacharias' mouth because his unbelief and confession could have kept the Word of God from coming to pass
b. Mary believed and spoke, "be it done unto me according to your Word." - That was her confession; she was believing and speaking the same thing that God said
i. This was impossible. You're talking about a woman having a baby without having intercourse with a man
ii. Because she believed and spoke there was a performance of those things that the Lord had spoke
C. If you want a performance of the things that the Lord spoke all you have to do is believe and speak.
1. Satan has deceived us into thinking that we have to do more than believe it and speak it.
a. Stop thinking that you have to do it, just believe it and speak it
b. Don't put God in a box, leave the doing up to God and the believing and speaking up to you
D. What you're saying might sound unreasonable, but that's just the devil trying to talk you out of your faith
1. Go to the book, find out what God says about you and then say that
a. Luke 4:16 - Jesus did it
b. John 1:19-23 - John did it
V. Your life is going in the direction that your tongue is taking it (James 3:2)
A. What we say is the controlling factor in our lives
1. Wherever the bit goes the horse goes, wherever the rudder goes the ship goes, and wherever the tongue goes your life goes.
2. 2-If you can control your tongue you can control your body and your circumstances
B. 3-Whoever is controlling that bit is controlling that horse and whoever is controlling your tongue is controlling your life
1. That bit puts pressure on that horse's mouth/tongue and causes the horse to move
2. For you to turn your life you are going to have to put pressure on your tongue to say something that your flesh might not want to say
C. 4-The guy who is controlling the rudder is determining where that ship goes and the person controlling your tongue is determining where your life goes.
1. When you first turn that rudder you're just plowing water and the bigger the ship the less it turns at first, but if you keep that rudder turned eventually that ship will get pointed in the direction that the rudder turned it
2. When you first change your speech, you're just plowing water and changing the inside, so the outside might not change right away, but if you just keep saying what God says eventually the direction of your life will be changed
3. If I want to get that ship to Hawaii then I have to get the rudder in the direction of Hawaii and leave it there until I reach my destination
4. If I want to get my life to financial prosperity overflow then I have to get my tongue going in that direction and keep it there until I reach that destination
5. You can't just fly off at the mouth for a few hours without making course corrections
a. You fly off at the mouth for a few hours and get your rudder going in the wrong direction, you have to make course corrections (repent and say what God says) and it's going to take you longer to reach your destination
i. Some of us need to make some course corrections
b. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, so get the rudder going in that right direction and leave it there; get the tongue going in the right direction and leave it there
c. The quickest way for you to get to the manifestation of the promise is to just say what God says and leave it right there no matter what
D. 5-You start a big fire with little kindling. Every fire started with a spark somewhere no matter how big the fire is. Your tongue may seem like a small thing, but it controls big things.
1. Make the connection between what you're saying and what you have in life
E. 6-The tongue controls the course of your life
1. The course of life will determine the destinations that you reach
F. 7-8-No man alone can tame the tongue, but a man who has the help of the Holy Spirit can tame the tongue.
