RISING OR FALLING TO THE LEVEL OF YOUR CONFESSION
The Process Of Faith (Part 9)
I. You will rise and fall to the level of your confession (Numbers 13-14, Exodus 33:1-3)
A. This is the truth and this is what God said, so if they are going to say what God said then they are going to have to speak something that is in line with this (Exodus 33:1-3)
1. They talked themselves out of the promised land (Numbers 13:25-29, 31-33, 14:1-4)
2. Joshua and Caleb talked themselves into the promised land (Numbers 13:30, Numbers 14:7-9)
B. God had a purpose and plan for them and that plan was a plan that had them in a land of more than enough, but that plan was altered when they took their words and changed His plan (Numbers 14:34)
1. God did exactly what they said
a. Joshua 10:12-14 - God heard and did the voice of man
2. Luke 1:18-20, 34-38, 45
a. The angel of the Lord shut Zacharias' mouth because his unbelief and confession could have kept the Word of God from coming to pass
b. Mary believed and spoke, "be it done unto me according to your Word." - That was her confession, she was believing and speaking the same thing that God said
i. This was impossible. You're talking about a woman having a baby without having intercourse with a man
ii. Because she believed and spoke there was a performance of those things that the Lord had spoke
3. 2 Peter 3:9 - God's plan is that everybody gets saved
a. That plan is altered when people don't believe and speak what God said concerning Salvation
C. If you want a performance of the things that the Lord spoke, all you have to do is believe and speak.
1. Satan has deceived us into thinking that we have to do more than believe it and speak it.
a. Stop thinking that you have to do it, just believe it and speak it
b. Don't put God in a box, leave the doing up to God and the believing and speaking up to you
D. What you're saying might sound unreasonable, but that's just the devil trying to talk you out of your faith
1. Go to the book, find out what God says about you and then say that
a. Luke 4:16 - Jesus did it
b. John 1:19-23 - John did it
II. Your life is going in the direction that your tongue is taking it (James 3:2)
A. What we say is the controlling factor in our lives
1. Wherever the bit goes the horse goes, wherever the rudder goes the ship goes, and wherever the tongue goes your life goes.
2. 2-If you can control your tongue you can control your body and your circumstances
B. 3-Whoever is controlling that bit is controlling that horse and whoever is controlling your tongue is controlling your life
1. That bit puts pressure on that horse's mouth/tongue and causes the horse to turn
2. For you to turn your life you are going to have to put pressure on your tongue to say something that your flesh might not want to say
C. 4-The guy who is controlling the rudder is determining where that ship goes and the person controlling your tongue is determining where your life goes.
1. When you first turn that rudder you're just plowing water and the bigger the ship the less it turns at first, but if you keep that rudder turned eventually that ship will get pointed in the direction that the rudder turned it
a. When you first change your speech, you're just plowing water and changing the inside, so the outside might not change right away, but if you just keep saying what God says eventually the direction of your life will be changed
2. If I want to get that ship to Hawaii then I have to get the rudder in the direction of Hawaii and leave it there until I reach my destination
a. If I want to get my life to financial prosperity overflow then I have to get my tongue going in that direction and keep it there until I reach that destination
3. You can't just fly off at the mouth for a few hours without making course corrections
a. You fly off at the mouth for a few hours and get your rudder going in the wrong direction, you have to make course corrections (repent and say what God says) and it's going to take you longer to reach your destination
i. Some of us need to make some course corrections
b. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, so get the rudder going in that right direction and leave it there; get the tongue going in the right direction and leave it there
c. The quickest way for you to get to the manifestation of the promise is to just say what God says and leave it right there no matter what
D. 5-You start a big fire with little kindling. Every fire started with a spark somewhere no matter how big the fire is. Your tongue may seem like a small thing, but it controls big things.
1. Make the connection between what you're saying and what you have in life
E. 6-The tongue controls the course of your life
1. The course of life will determine the destinations that you reach
F. 7-8-No man alone can tame the tongue, but a man who has the help of the Holy Spirit can tame the tongue
1. Proverbs 30:32 - Satan is looking to shoot a thought through your mind and get you to speak on that thought
2. Psalm 39:1 - Demons are perched waiting on your words
3. 1 Peter 5:8 - Satan's looking for someone who will speak words that allow him to devour them
III. Satan is coming to get the seed of that word out of your mouth because if he can keep the Word of God out of your mouth, then he can keep the Word of God out of your heart and if he can keep the Word of God out of your heart, he can keep the Word of God from being spoken out of your mouth and producing in your life.
A. The enemy is after the seed of God's Word
1. Mark 4:15 - He's coming to get the Word
2. Mark 4:17 - Persecution and affliction are coming to get the Word
3. Luke 8:12 - Satan's coming to get that Word from your heart so that you won't believe it and see the manifestation of it in your life
4. Luke 8:13 - That test and trial came to get you to let go of that Word and stop believing it
5. In every attack you need to have a working consciousness that says, "This only came to get the Word so, I'm not letting go."
B. The people that hold fast to the Word and possess it, and retain it, and seize it, and stay on it will bring forth fruit (Luke 8:15)
1. Patience is, I started on the Word, I'm on the Word, and I'm going to be on the Word because I'm not changing and I'm not saying anything else
a. When patience is done I want nothing (James 1:4)
2. If Satan cannot get the Word of God out of your mouth he cannot defeat you (Hebrews 4:14-16, Hebrews 10:23)
C. When you believed in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confessed with your mouth that he was Lord, all of hell couldn't stop you from receiving salvation because of the law of confession (Romans 10:8-10)
1. Satan's after that Word in your mouth because he knows that if you get to a place where you believe it and speak it, neither he nor all of hell can stop you from having it because of the law of confession (Matthew 17:20)
IV. Functions of your confession
A. Your confession accesses and releases the ministry of angels
1. Hebrews 1:14
a. Angels are ministers sent forth for you
2. Psalm 103:20
a. Hearken - hear and obey
b. The angels obey the voice of His Word, not His voice
i. As a believer I am the voice of His Word because I should be saying what He says
c. Strength - power, might, ability, the ability to accomplish an action
d. Excel - mighty one, mighty warrior, special guard, champion, giant, strongest
3. Psalm 91:2, 7-12 - He confessed the Word and the angels heard and did the voice of God's Word
a. It's not hard to be 1 out of 11,000 to not be harmed when you have the ones with you that excel in power protecting you
B. Your confession releases faith as your servant onto the situation (Luke 17:6)
1. Faith is your servant and it will do the work when you speak
a. It will do exactly what you tell it to do and you don't have to thank faith for doing what you told it to do
b. Don't pull faith off the scene until the task is accomplished
2. Mark 11:12
a. Jesus spoke to that tree and then went in the temple and ministered there. Then He went back to Bethany walking by the tree that hadn't withered away yet. He went to Bethany and slept and woke up the next morning and walked by the tree and it was withered away.
b. He released faith as his servant onto the situation, and even though your body sleeps your spirit never sleeps, so even while he was sleeping faith as his servant was working on that situation
C. Your confession will access the power of God, the spirit of God and God Himself to bring your words to pass
1. Genesis 1:2 - When God spoke the Holy Spirit went into action and brought that Word to pass
2. Joshua 10:12-14 - Joshua spoke and the Lord heard and did the voice of a man
3. Numbers 14:28 - God did exactly what they spoke
D. Your confession accesses the High Priestly ministry of Jesus (Hebrews 3:1)
1. Apostle is the sent one who is authorized and equipped. Jesus has been sent and equipped with the ability to carry out every word that you speak and he'll see to it that the job gets done.
2. Jesus High Priest - The Voice of our confession in Heaven. Jesus has been anointed and authorized to give voice before the Father of the Words that you speak on this Earth.
a. Jesus is the equipped one who is sent to take my confession of faith before the Father and see to it that it is developed and finished
b. I dare you to get an image of Jesus taking your words to God
